How Saudi Arabia’s New Package Visa Works in 2026

Travellers reviewing a holiday booking on a phone inside a Saudi airport

Booking a flight, hotel and tourist visa through three separate systems creates three chances for something to go wrong. Saudi Arabia’s new Package Visa brings those parts into one booking for eligible travellers in selected markets.

The service entered its pilot phase in July 2026. It can be useful for UAE residents whose nationality is included, but UAE residence alone does not automatically confirm eligibility for this particular route.

What the Package Visa includes

An approved travel provider creates an integrated package with confirmed return flights, accommodation in a licensed Saudi hospitality property and an electronic tourist visa application. Travellers may also be able to add events, activities and other tourism experiences.

The Saudi Press Agency announcement says the pilot was developed by the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the Insurance Authority.

The main advantage is coordination. Instead of paying for the flight and hotel before knowing how the visa step fits into the journey, the customer works through one qualified provider and one connected package.

Who can use it during the pilot

The service is limited to eligible nationalities and selected pilot markets. Availability can expand as the programme develops. A resident of Dubai, Abu Dhabi or another UAE emirate should not assume that an Emirates ID is enough.

Use the eligibility checker on the official KSA Visa Package page. The official portal should be the final reference because nationality lists and available providers can change during a pilot.

Passport validity and ordinary immigration checks still apply. A package helps organise the application, but it does not remove the authority’s right to request information or make the final visa decision.

How it differs from the regular Saudi eVisa

The standard Saudi tourist eVisa remains a separate route. The official Visit Saudi portal currently allows citizens of listed countries to apply directly. That eVisa is generally issued for one year with multiple entry and permits stays totalling up to 90 days, subject to its conditions.

The Package Visa is designed around a booked itinerary. Flight, licensed accommodation and visa processing are connected through an approved provider. It may suit someone who wants one point of contact, but it offers less freedom to choose every part independently.

Before paying, compare both routes if your passport qualifies for the regular eVisa. Look at the complete cost, flight terms, hotel choice, cancellation rules and the amount of support you actually need.

What to check before choosing a package

Confirm that the travel company appears through the official Package Visa service. A social media advertisement or a website using Saudi colours is not proof of approval.

Read the flight conditions carefully. Check baggage allowance, change fees, connection times and whether every journey is on one ticket. A low package price can become expensive when checked baggage or date changes are added later.

Look up the hotel on a map rather than relying on a city name. Riyadh and Jeddah cover large areas, and a cheaper property far from your planned activities can increase daily transport costs.

Ask what happens if the visa is refused, delayed or requires more information. The written terms should explain which parts are refundable and which costs have already been committed.

Why licensed accommodation is part of the service

The package must use accommodation in a licensed hospitality facility. This gives the visa application a confirmed stay and helps keep the travel booking within an approved tourism system.

Travellers should still check room occupancy, breakfast, taxes and child policies. A hotel being licensed does not mean every cost is included or that one room will suit a large family.

If you plan to visit more than one Saudi city, confirm whether the provider can include several hotels and the transport between them. Do not assume that an internal flight or train journey is included unless it appears in the booking.

Planning activities without overloading the trip

Optional events and experiences can make the package convenient, but every day does not need a paid activity. Leave time for travel, hotel check in and rest, especially when moving between cities.

Check age limits, clothing guidance, weather and cancellation terms for each activity. An outdoor experience that looks comfortable in a winter photograph may feel very different during a hot month.

A tourist visa is for permitted visitor activities. It is not a work or study visa. Travellers planning employment, a long assignment or education need the correct route for that purpose.

What UAE families should prepare

Check every traveller’s passport validity before starting. Make sure names on flight, hotel and visa records match the passport exactly. Small differences can create delays that are difficult to fix close to departure.

Ask whether each child needs a separate application and what documents the provider requires from a parent or guardian. Carry consent documents when a child is travelling with one parent or another adult if they are relevant to the family’s situation.

UAE residence documents may still be useful for the journey, but they do not replace a passport or Saudi entry permission. Check the return validity of UAE residence before leaving as well.

A pilot means details can change

The Package Visa is new, and the first rollout is deliberately limited. More nationalities, providers and package choices may be added. Prices and itineraries are commercial decisions made by participating travel companies.

Use official portals when checking eligibility and approved channels. Save the package terms, payment receipt, visa document, flight confirmation and hotel booking offline before travelling.

Frequently asked questions

Does UAE residence automatically qualify me for the Saudi Package Visa?

No. Eligibility during the pilot depends on the nationalities and markets supported through the official Package Visa service.

What must a Package Visa booking include?

It combines confirmed return flights, licensed accommodation and an electronic tourist visa application through an approved provider.

Can I still apply for a regular Saudi tourist eVisa?

Yes, if your passport and circumstances meet the conditions of the standard eVisa route. Compare the official options before choosing.

Does buying a package guarantee visa approval?

No. The package connects the application with travel services, but Saudi authorities retain the final immigration decision.

Where should I check current eligibility?

Use the official KSA Visa Package page and follow its approved provider links rather than relying on an advertisement or unofficial agent.
