How to Join Dubai Mallathon 2026 for Free

Dubai residents walking and jogging through a shopping mall before stores open

At 6am, Dubai’s largest malls feel like different buildings. The shops are still closed, the walkways are quiet and people in running shoes have the polished corridors almost to themselves.

That is the simple appeal of Dubai Mallathon 2026. Six shopping centres open their indoor routes every morning so residents and visitors can walk or run away from the summer heat. The ordinary sessions are free and there is no registration form to complete.

When Dubai Mallathon takes place

The second edition began on 15 June and continues until 15 September 2026. Daily sessions run from 6am to 10am. The Dubai Media Office announcement says the programme is intended for people of different ages and fitness levels.

You can arrive at any point within the morning session, although an early start gives you more time before the mall becomes busy. There is no required distance and no need to maintain a running pace. A gentle walk counts just as much as a fast session.

The six malls taking part

The participating locations are Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Festival City Mall, City Centre Deira and Dubai Hills Mall. Each venue has a marked route, but the starting point and early morning parking arrangements differ.

At Dubai Mall, one lap is about 1.5 km. The route begins near the Dubai Ice Rink on the ground floor, and the official location guide recommends Cinema Parking P3.

At Mall of the Emirates, the 1 km lap begins near Starbucks on the ground floor. Parking B on the ground floor is the suggested early access point.

City Centre Mirdif has a 1 km lap that begins near P.F. Chang’s on the ground floor. The venue also provides walking areas intended to make women feel comfortable during the morning session.

City Centre Deira has a 1 km lap beginning near Aloft Hotel on the second floor. The location guide points visitors towards P4 parking on level one or level two.

At Dubai Hills Mall, one lap is about 2.5 km. The starting point is near Centrepoint on the ground floor, with Home Parking P2 listed for access.

Dubai Festival City Mall is also part of the daily programme. North Parking is the useful arrival point listed by the organisers. Once inside any venue, follow the Mallathon signs because access arrangements can change when a race or another mall event is taking place.

How an ordinary morning works

For a regular walk, you do not need to book a place or collect a race number. Choose one of the six malls, arrive during the session and join the marked route. The official Mallathon information confirms that daily access is free.

You can leave after one lap or continue for as long as you feel comfortable. This makes the event easy to fit around work, school holidays or a morning shopping trip. It is also useful for families whose members walk at different speeds.

The malls are air conditioned, but walking still raises body temperature. Bring water, wear comfortable clothes and use shoes that support your feet. A bottle that closes securely is better than an open cup on a busy route.

Race mornings need a little more planning

Organised races are separate from the daily walking sessions. They require advance registration and usually offer several distances. Participants collect a race number before the start, and the usual public route may open later that morning.

If you plan to visit on a weekend, check the official schedule first. A listed race can affect parking, entrance access and the time when casual walkers can join. The regular session may begin after the race rather than at 6am.

A race is optional. You can take part in the full Mallathon season without entering one. People who do want a timed challenge should use the organiser’s registration page and read the instructions for that specific mall.

A sensible plan for your first visit

Choose the mall that is easiest to reach rather than the one with the longest route. A convenient location makes it much more likely that you will return. Check the starting point, parking area and travel time the evening before.

For the first session, walk for twenty or thirty minutes at a pace that still allows comfortable conversation. Learn the route and notice how your feet and legs feel. If that goes well, add a little time on the next visit.

People who have not exercised recently should resist the urge to chase a lap target on day one. Regular visits matter more than one exhausting morning. Anyone with a medical condition or concern about exercise should follow advice from a qualified health professional.

Making it work with children

Families can use the route, but younger children should stay close to an adult and keep to a predictable side of the walkway. Busy runners may approach from behind. If a child wants to stop, move away from the marked path before taking a break.

A short lap followed by breakfast can feel more inviting than presenting the morning as a workout. Toilets and food outlets may have limited opening hours early in the session, so check the chosen mall if those facilities are important to your visit.
