Dubai Police Clearance Certificate: Application, Documents and Validity Guide

A Police Clearance Certificate, often called a good-conduct certificate, is a document people may be asked to provide for employment, study, immigration, licensing or another official purpose. The most useful first question is not “how quickly can I get it?” but “which authority is asking for it, for which country or institution, and what validity period do they accept?” That avoids applying for a certificate too early or in the wrong format.

Dubai Police describes its service as a certificate that evidences good conduct in the UAE from a security and criminal perspective. Its official service page says the certificate is valid for three months from issue, so time your application around the receiving organisation’s deadline. This is distinct from reporting a missing passport; for that situation, see our lost-passport guide. It is also not an emergency service: use our UAE emergency-numbers guide for urgent calls.

Check the recipient’s requirement before applying

Ask the employer, university, embassy or regulator whether it needs a Dubai Police certificate, a particular language, attestation or a certificate issued within a specific period. Save that request. Then compare it with the official service information, rather than selecting a certificate based solely on a similarly named online form.

Before you apply Why it helps
Recipient’s written requirement Confirms purpose, timing and any extra processing they expect.
Identity information Lets you enter personal data exactly as held in official records.
Current contact details Helps you receive updates and retrieve the certificate.
Payment method Lets you complete the official digital process without interruption.

Use Dubai Police’s stated channels

Dubai Police lists digital channels, the Dubai Police app, Dubai Now, Smart Police Stations and police stations among the service routes, with different options depending on the applicant’s situation. Read the official Police Clearance Certificate page for current eligibility, fees and documentation. The page also sets out separate information for applicants outside the UAE, including identity and prior-visa documentation.

  • Confirm what the receiving organisation actually needs.
  • Apply close enough to use the certificate within its stated validity period.
  • Enter names, dates and identity details exactly as they appear in official records.
  • Save the application reference and final certificate securely.
  • Use only official channels when uploading identity documents.

Keep it separate from other police or traffic services

A clearance certificate is not the same as a traffic-fine check, a lost-item report or a driving record. If you are organising a move or job change, keeping each request in its own folder is safer than emailing documents repeatedly. Drivers can separately review Dubai Salik account basics and our Dubai parking-payment guide; neither substitutes for a clearance certificate.

Do not share the issued certificate more widely than necessary. It is a personal official document, so use a secure delivery method requested by the recipient and keep a copy of where and when you sent it.

For a different identity-document task, see our UAE entry-permit number guide. Drivers seeking road-rule information should use the separate Abu Dhabi E311 speed-limit guide; neither service changes police-clearance requirements.
