UAE Product Recall Guide: How to Check a Model, Stop Use and Report It

A product-recall headline is useful only when you can match it to the exact item in your home. Similar-looking products may have different model numbers, manufacturing dates, plug types or batches. Before returning, repairing or discarding anything, identify the product precisely, compare it with an official notice and follow the remedy stated for that recall.

MoIAT’s official Manaa product-recall system provides a central recall database and channels to report a non-complying product, a recalled product still on sale or an incident. It is the appropriate starting point for UAE recall verification. A retailer post or forwarded message can alert you, but the official record should guide the action.

Match the item carefully

Detail Where to find it Why it matters
Brand and product name Label, rating plate or packaging Separates similar product families
Model number Rating plate, base, back or manual Often defines the affected version
Serial or batch Product label or packaging May narrow the recall to a production run
Purchase evidence Receipt, order email or bank record Supports the remedy process
Condition and incident Photos and factual notes Helps official reporting

Photograph the complete label and the product in place before unplugging or moving it, but only if this can be done safely. Do not guess a blurred digit. If the label is hidden near electricity, heat or a moving part, disconnect the item as directed by the manufacturer or ask qualified help.

Immediate recall checklist

  • Open the official notice, not only a screenshot.
  • Compare model, serial, batch and manufacturing date exactly.
  • Stop use when the notice instructs you to do so.
  • Keep the product away from children and other users.
  • Preserve the receipt, photos and recall reference.
  • Contact the named supplier through verified details.
  • Report a recalled item still offered for sale through Manaa.

Stop use without creating another hazard

“Stop use” does not always mean “put it in the rubbish”. A battery, gas appliance, damaged electrical product or chemical may require special isolation and disposal. Follow the notice. Do not dismantle the product, puncture a battery, bypass a safety component or attempt an online repair that could void the remedy.

For an overheating electrical item, the Dubai home-fire safety guide covers evacuation and alarms. If there is smoke, fire, serious injury or immediate danger, use the UAE emergency-numbers guide rather than waiting for customer service.

Contact the right party

The recall notice should name the supplier, remedy and communication route. Use that route and provide only the information needed to identify the item and purchase. Do not send an OTP, banking password or unrelated identity document to a caller. A genuine refund process does not require access to your banking login.

The Dubai scam-safety guide helps recognise impersonation, while the UAE online-shopping guide explains why receipts and listing evidence matter.

If the product is not listed

An unlisted product may still be unsafe. Stop using an item that sparks, overheats, leaks, breaks in a dangerous way or has caused an injury. Record the model and the facts, seek medical help where necessary and use Manaa’s incident or non-conforming-product channel. Do not exaggerate or diagnose the engineering cause; a clear description of what happened is more useful.

Food and medicine have different authority routes. Use the Dubai food-recall guide for food, and follow official health-authority instructions for medicines or medical devices. Follow the relevant official food-safety reporting process.

Returns, repair and disposal

Follow the stated remedy: it may be inspection, repair, replacement, refund or another corrective action. Keep the case number and confirmation of handover. If a courier collects the item, photograph its condition and obtain proof. Do not resell, donate or give away a recalled product; that simply transfers the risk to someone else.

When a complaint remains unresolved, use the authority named for the product and location. The UAE household document guide can help organise receipts, warranties and model photographs before an issue occurs. If the recall involves a phone, apply the account-protection steps in the lost-phone guide before surrendering the device.

Questions people often ask

Where can I check product recalls in the UAE?

Use MoIAT’s official Manaa system, which provides a searchable recalled-product database and reporting channels.

How do I know whether my product is affected?

Match the exact model, serial or batch, manufacturing date and other identifiers in the official notice. Appearance alone is not enough.

Should I throw a recalled product away?

Not unless the official notice says to do so. Follow its return, repair, replacement or disposal instructions, especially for batteries and electrical items.

Can I report a recalled product still being sold?

Yes. Manaa includes a channel to report finding a recalled or non-complying product in the market.

What should I do if an unsafe product caused an injury?

Get appropriate medical help first, preserve the product and evidence when safe, and report the incident through the relevant official channel.
