Apply UAE Visa: Visit Dubai to Offer Single, Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa Applications

Traveller applying online for a UAE tourist visa through the Visit Dubai website

Travellers planning a Dubai holiday can now use the official Visit Dubai website to review tourist visa options and begin an application for eligible single-entry and multiple-entry visas.

The updated service brings important information into one place, including visa durations, basic documentation and links to the appropriate application channel. However, Visit Dubai is a tourism information and application gateway—not the immigration authority that makes the final decision.

Dubai tourist visas are processed under the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs–Dubai, commonly known as GDRFA Dubai. Approval remains subject to immigration requirements, document verification and the applicant’s circumstances.

Before applying, travellers should first check whether they need an advance visa at all. GCC citizens can enter the UAE without a visa, while passport holders from many countries qualify for a visa on arrival. Other travellers must obtain an approved tourist visa before departure.

The official Visit Dubai visa information service lets users select their nationality, review the relevant entry route and compare available tourist visa types.

Which tourist visas are available?

The Visit Dubai service presents three main tourist-visa categories: short-term single entry, short-term multiple entry and a five-year multiple-entry tourist visa.

Tourist visa option Entry type Permitted stay Best suited to
30-day tourist visa Single entry Up to 30 days One short holiday or family visit
60-day tourist visa Single entry Up to 60 days A longer continuous visit
30-day tourist visa Multiple entry Up to 30 days Travellers making several regional trips
60-day tourist visa Multiple entry Up to 60 days Travellers who may leave and return during a longer trip
Five-year tourist visa Multiple entry Generally up to 90 days per visit, subject to conditions Frequent UAE visitors who meet the financial and insurance requirements

A single-entry visa normally ends once the traveller leaves the UAE, even if part of the permitted stay was unused. A multiple-entry visa can allow the holder to leave and re-enter during its applicable validity period.

Applicants should distinguish between the visa’s entry-validity period and its permitted duration of stay. These are not necessarily the same. The issued visa or entry permit should be checked carefully before booking side trips or making a second entry.

Who should apply before travelling?

A tourist visa is generally required when a traveller is not eligible for visa-free entry or a visa on arrival.

The correct route depends on nationality, passport type and sometimes other qualifying travel documents. Entry arrangements can change, so travellers should use the nationality checker on the official Visit Dubai page instead of relying on an old list, a social-media post or another traveller’s experience.

Before starting an application:

  • Select the passport nationality accurately.
  • Check whether visa-free entry or visa on arrival applies.
  • Confirm the passport has at least six months’ validity.
  • Choose single entry or multiple entry based on the actual itinerary.
  • Check whether the planned stay requires a 30-day or 60-day option.
  • Prepare health insurance and confirmed travel details.
  • Allow enough time for processing and possible document requests.

Families should check every traveller separately. A parent’s eligibility does not automatically establish the same entry arrangement for a child holding a different passport.

Documents to prepare for a Dubai tourist visa

Visit Dubai states that applicants generally need a valid passport, a recent photograph and health insurance. Flight details and additional documents may also be required depending on the visa category and nationality.

Applicants should normally prepare:

  • A clear colour copy of the passport information page
  • A passport valid for at least six months
  • A recent passport-sized photograph
  • Health insurance valid in the UAE
  • A confirmed return or onward travel ticket
  • Accommodation or UAE address information
  • Any nationality-specific identity documents requested
  • Proof of funds when applying for the five-year visa
  • A working email address and telephone number

The name, passport number, nationality and date of birth must match the passport exactly. Even a small spelling error can delay processing or create difficulty during airline document checks.

The UAE travel-document checklist can help travellers keep identification, insurance, bookings and emergency records organised, although the issuing authority’s requirements remain final.

How to apply through Visit Dubai

Start by opening the official Visit Dubai visa page and selecting your nationality. The service will indicate whether advance approval is required and display relevant tourist-visa options.

The usual process is:

  1. Check the entry requirement for your passport.
  2. Select the appropriate visa type and duration.
  3. Review the document requirements.
  4. Follow the official application link.
  5. Enter the applicant’s details exactly as shown in the passport.
  6. Upload clear copies of the requested documents.
  7. Review the total fee and conditions before payment.
  8. Save the application number and payment receipt.
  9. Monitor the registered email address for updates.
  10. Check the issued visa carefully before travelling.

Visit Dubai says processing is typically around 48 hours, but this should be treated as an estimate rather than a guarantee. An application can take longer if documents are unclear, additional checks are required or information needs to be corrected.

Do not purchase a non-refundable ticket solely because the usual processing period is two days. Approval must be received before travel when an advance visa is required.

If a flight changes after approval, follow the steps in our Dubai Airport flight-changes guide and confirm that the revised arrival date remains within the visa’s entry-validity period.

Single entry or multiple entry: which should you choose?

A single-entry visa is normally sufficient when the traveller intends to arrive in Dubai, remain in the UAE for the holiday and leave once.

A multiple-entry visa may be more suitable when the itinerary includes a trip to another country followed by a return to the UAE. Examples include a cruise with a second UAE arrival or a regional holiday involving Dubai before and after another destination.

Do not select multiple entry merely because it sounds more flexible. Compare the price, entry-validity period and conditions with the confirmed itinerary. If no second UAE entry is planned, a single-entry visa may be the simpler choice.

Travellers should also check transit requirements for every country included in the journey. A UAE tourist visa does not provide permission to enter another country.

Passengers carrying several bags can prepare for their arrival with our Dubai Metro luggage guide or Dubai Airport public-bus guide.

How the five-year multiple-entry visa differs

The five-year multiple-entry tourist visa is a separate long-term option available to applicants of all nationalities who satisfy its conditions. It is issued without requiring a UAE guarantor or host.

According to the official GDRFA five-year tourist-visa service, applicants generally need:

  • A passport valid for at least six months
  • A recent personal photograph
  • Six months of bank statements
  • Valid UAE health insurance
  • A return or onward travel ticket
  • Evidence of a bank balance of at least USD 4,000 or its equivalent during the preceding six months

The visa can permit stays of up to 90 days in a year, with an extension for a similar period subject to the rules. The total stay must not exceed 180 days in one year.

This visa should not be confused with a 30-day or 60-day multiple-entry tourist visa. The supporting documents, fees, guarantee and permitted-stay rules are different.

Check the application and issued visa carefully

After submitting an application, keep the application reference and payment record. Dubai-issued applications and visa validity can be checked through GDRFA Dubai.

Review the issued document for:

  • Full name and passport number
  • Visa or entry-permit number
  • Issue date
  • Last permitted date of entry
  • Permitted duration of stay
  • Single-entry or multiple-entry status
  • Issuing authority
  • Any conditions shown on the document

Our guide to reading a UAE entry-permit number explains the department, year, service and sequence fields that can appear on Dubai visa records.

If a visa file cannot be found, first check that the correct portal is being used. Dubai applications are generally handled through GDRFA Dubai, while applications associated with other emirates may be checked through ICP.

Avoid unofficial visa offers

Travellers should be cautious when an unknown person guarantees approval, requests payment to a personal account or asks for passport copies through an unverified messaging profile.

A legitimate application can still be refused, and no private agent can guarantee an immigration decision.

Before paying:

  • Confirm the website address and issuing channel.
  • Check the full price before entering card details.
  • Do not share one-time passwords.
  • Avoid sending passport copies to unknown accounts.
  • Keep receipts and application correspondence.
  • Verify unexpected payment requests independently.
  • Do not use altered bookings or false supporting documents.

If an online seller or agent fails to provide the agreed service, the Dubai consumer complaint guide explains how to preserve evidence and identify an appropriate complaint channel.

Before travelling to Dubai

Visa approval is only one part of the journey. Check the operating airline’s document instructions, terminal, baggage conditions and flight status before leaving for the airport.

Keep the visa, passport, return ticket, accommodation details and insurance accessible during check-in and arrival. Do not place the only copies inside checked baggage.

If a checked suitcase does not arrive, use the Dubai delayed-baggage guide to report it before leaving the baggage hall.

Questions people often ask

Can I apply for a UAE tourist visa through Visit Dubai?

Visit Dubai now provides a central page where travellers can check their eligibility, compare available tourist visas and follow the relevant official application route. The final immigration decision remains with the competent UAE authority.

What is the difference between single-entry and multiple-entry tourist visas?

A single-entry visa generally permits one arrival and ends after the holder leaves. A multiple-entry visa can allow more than one UAE entry during the visa’s applicable validity, subject to its conditions.

How long does a Dubai tourist visa application take?

Visit Dubai says processing is typically approximately 48 hours. This is an estimate, and applications can take longer when additional documents or checks are required.

Do I need six months remaining on my passport?

Yes. Official UAE guidance generally requires a passport or travel document valid for at least six months. Check the rule again before applying and travelling.

Does applying through Visit Dubai guarantee visa approval?

No. Submitting a complete application does not guarantee approval. The immigration authority assesses the documents, eligibility and circumstances before issuing a decision.

Disclaimer: Visa requirements, fees, processing times and nationality-based entry arrangements can change. Applicants should confirm the current conditions through Visit Dubai, GDRFA Dubai or the UAE Government before paying or travelling.
